Spend time planning the important things

Spend time planning the important things

Don’t leave a ‘good time’ to chance. Experiences have to be woven with care and planning, like a tapestry. — Jim Rohn

Wow! Where did 2021 go? It sure went by fast! It seems like just last week I was celebrating 2020’s New Year’s Eve at the White Party in Anaheim. Hopefully, life will get better for everyone in 2022. My family and I are planning on BIG changes for 2022. We are moving on with our lives full speed ahead. For some of us it’s still difficult to set goals or make vacation plans.

Something I recently read struck a chord with me as I think about my plans for 2022. It was an article about the American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker, Jim Rohn. He said, “It’s not the time you invest; it’s the investment you make in the time you spend, with those you care about, that makes the difference.” Rohn said one can’t leave creating a great time and wonderful memories to chance…You must weave the tapestry of a wonderful experience through great design and planning, in the same way you would for your business.

This past summer, my wife Debbie, daughter Tayla and I traveled about from Florida to Nevada. Debbie and I had a fabulous trip to Cabo San Lucas. During our travels most resort areas were open as normal. When things were not fully operational, we made the best of it and discovered new things we hadn’t done before.

Now that 2021 is almost over, I’m looking back at all photos and videos from past years. I am struck by the “preciousness” of time. What makes us choose what is important or not?

We only get one journey where we decide how we are going to spend our time. It’s so easy to get caught up in the mundane task of doing and producing, as if it’s our only choice. At times it can seem like that vacation is merely a distraction from our work. But looking back I realize taking breaks was the right thing to do. Time goes by so quickly, and it is up to us to make sure we have no regrets about not doing the things that matter.

Have fun; laugh out loud; be kind to each other; learn, play, and don’t forget to invest time to plan your travels and important events in your life. Don’t worry and stress yourself. What will be will be. Everything will all work out, especially if you set goals and stick to them.

So, what is my promise to myself, my family and my team for 2022? Let’s plan to make this The Best Year Ever!
