Challenging times can turn out for the better

Challenging times can turn out for the better

“The truth is, everything that has happened in my life…that I thought was a crushing event at the time, has turned out for the better.” — Warren Buffet

It is July 2020. Right now, it sure feels like the world had gone crazy. Every day we wake up to a new event that challenges our beliefs, our state of mind, and our well-being. No matter where we turn, be it social media, Facebook, Twitter, TV, even our local community, it all seems like everyone is attacking one another. It is just an endless stream of negativity. “Worry can become a self-perpetuating loop.“ – Bill Harris

The reality is that everything is not all bad. The disruption of our usual way of life is challenging. There is always a period of struggle when one learns how to adapt. Change is never easy. Create your own reality by focusing on what you can control and block out all the noise. The unpleasantries are just a distraction designed to put you in a state of fear and misery.

“Don’t let a mad world tell you that success is anything other than a successful present moment.”- Eckhart Tolle

Stay strong and positive. Here are a few things to help foster success during this challenging time:

Think healthy. Focus on your health. Improve your eating habits. Even a small change will give you big results. Start with reducing your sugar intake and drink more water. Over the past 10 weeks I have really focused on cutting out carbs and trying to eat mostly protein and vegetables or salads.

Exercise regularly. I know gyms have been closed, but I have noticed a huge increase in the number of people walking around our neighborhood. If you can, invest in a stationary bike. There are many good choices such as the Peloton bike I use daily.

Sleep well. Get quality sleep. With most of us working from home, not commuting has allowed us to be calmer and let us operate at a slower pace. Better sleep equals better energy.

Practice gratitude. Each one of us has so many things to be grateful for. Just being alive and having friends and family around is a blessing each and every day.

Technology detox. Cutout or reduce your social media, TV and cell phone time. We are so hooked to our devices that we have stopped taking time to smell the roses.

Take timeout. Find time for yourself. Never become a martyr to your work, family, friends, or the world around you. You are entitled to have your time to recharge and refresh without feeling guilty.

Energize yourself. Energy is the essence of life. Take care of you. Feel good in your mind and body. Without healthy energy levels we cannot succeed in both our personal or business lives.

For me, the summer is a special time of the year filled with joy, good laughter, and adventure. Whatever your plans are for the upcoming months, be sure to have fun, stay safe and remember things can end up turning out for the better.

Have an awesome summer!
