Start just doing it.

Start just doing it.

“Sorry I can’t today, my sister’s friend’s mother’s grandpa’s brother’s grandson’s uncle’s fish died and yes, it was tragic.”

You are lying fast asleep in bed; I mean asleep. You are having one of those dreams that takes you to a far-off place to be the superhero of your adventure. You start hearing a loud buzzing that keeps interrupting your current battle with the villain. It’s getting louder and more distracting. Suddenly your mind gets pulled right back to this constant noise, damn it’s my alarm clock, Noooo! It can’t be time to wake up, I only just laid down. Your body is not moving, but your mind in a fraction of a second must make a choice. Push the snooze button for an extra 10 minutes and go back to fighting your villain or spring-n-move. That’s my technique for getting up, don’t think, just jump up fast.

That small moment at the very beginning of your day will either set you up for success or failure. You see Quitting is a Habit, every time you don’t follow through on a commitment, no matter how small, you reinforce that behavior as positive or negative action.

Most people quit before they even start. Actually think how many times you said you would go on a diet, get fit, clean the garage, write an article, finish your website, fix the bike, sort out your clothes in your closet, read that book a friend recommended or meet up with a friend. The list goes on and on.

That quitting habit starts to sneak into everything you do. It becomes easier to just not do stuff; you notice the same behavior in your spouse, friend or family so it reinforces your belief that it is normal and okay. Soon that “TO DO LIST” you use to agonize over to complete seems less important. Hey, I’m tired, I deserve a break. “I’ll do it tomorrow” the battle cry of the procrastinator.

You make up excuses; not enough time, I’m too busy, lack of desire, or it just seems too hard to even try. STOP!! Today is the day you start taking back your self-worth and start sticking to your commitments. “Excuses will turn your dreams into dust.” – Unknown

Tomorrow is the day you spring-n-move when that alarm goes off, that’s your first victory. Then you get dressed and get yourself to the gym, that’s your second victory. You complete your workout after 1 hour. That’s your third victory. You get home, shower, get dressed, and get downstairs for breakfast. That’s your fourth victory. You eat your eggs, avocado and tomato, no bread, no carbs. That’s your fifth victory. You arrive at work on time, fresh, motivated and ready to take on any challenge. After all, today is going to be YOUR BEST DAY EVER!!

Summer is here, life is good, and you can do anything you put your mind to do if you just start with small baby steps and commit to “Just Doing it.” Don’t think, just do and watch the results flow. “The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.” –  Jordan Belfort

Enjoy the Summer!
