Be In the Right State of Mind

Be In the Right State of Mind

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming – WOW, What a ride! – Peter Sage.

Hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving. One moment we are all rushing around making arrangements to connect with family and friends, buy the perfect turkey, cook the enormous feast of everyone’s favorites, and then celebrate the awesome 4 day long weekend. Before you know it, it’s back to work and it’s all over. Can we slow things down just a bit? Christmas and New Year are just a few weeks away!

I find December a weird month, caught between looking back at all the highs and lows, the lessons learned, and then looking ahead to start the planning process for 2016. I always see the New Year filled with the promise of endless potential if one just seizes the opportunities.

It’s been amazing how many complete strangers have asked me about my eye. People at gym, the neighborhood, around town. “How’s your eye doing? I read your letter.” Wow! Cool. Well, actually it’s awesome. No more floating gas bubble in my eye. For months it was like looking through a rain streaked window. My Dr. says my eye is now like superman’s eye. All lasered up and super strong. But the staff infection is just holding on with a passion. It’s been about 4 months now. I’m currently taking 2 antibiotics for a month. Nothing seems to be able to kill this infection. So now I’ve started Ozone UV IV treatment, which should clean my blood in the hopes that this will finally kill the infection.

This brings me to the topic of conversation this month – Our health. Living in OC you can’t help but notice that there is a high premium on looking good and staying young. I get it. I too want to live a long healthy life, have plenty of energy and look the best I can. I work at it every day; detoxifying, organic foods, exercise, cut out sugars, healthy water and so on. I have always been in good health and never get sick, and then one day Bam! I got hit and I still can’t understand how it happened. Today we live in a toxic environment, and every one of us is vulnerable.

Every single day we hear about another product or gimmick that is going to help you look, feel and make you stay younger. Billions of Dollars are spent each year on lotions, potions and surgery in the quest to look good. I would like to offer you an alternative solution to feeling younger by changing your “State of Mind”, get excited about life; and count your blessings. Here is a short list of ideas to get you started:

1. Start exercising outdoors. Incorporate something you love doing in your exercise routine
2. Eat more live fresh food. Your health is your wealth. There are more and more fresh markets, restaurants, juice bars, veggie bars opening all the time that serve the most fantastic healthy food. The taste always blows me away
3. Stop watching the news. They show you so much bad stuff, because that is what sells. Find the good news stories
4. Stop watching reality TV. Don’t get involved in other peoples drama. It’s just not healthy
5. Hang with positive people. Positive friends with positive energy raises your game
6. Spend time de-stressing and relaxing. Have a technology disconnect day. Meditate, dance, laugh, have a massage, get naked.
7. Take more 2-3 day trips out of town. You will return more refreshed ready for the next challenge
8. Enjoy the simple things in life: Sunsets, a good book, singing in the rain, walking barefoot in the grass
9. Be spontaneous. Do things you wouldn’t normally do. Explore different sensations. Get out of your comfort zone
10. Strive to be a “Champion”: The attributes of a Champion are nurtured from within and manifest in many ways. They embody timeless strength and inner beauty, and possess power that is tempered by compassion. Whoever meets a “Champion” is forever changed by their radiance of calm, confidence, power, balance, and peaceful openness

Finally, as we approach the Festive Season” it’s time to have fun.

“I’ve learned that life is like a carnival with all its sights and sounds, but sometimes you need to skip the rides and just hang out with the clowns.”- Linda Ellis.

Happy Holidays!!!
